The Designer Difference!

We use Loblolly pine straw also known as Short Needle pine straw in our designer pine straw process for numerous reasons.  Loblolly pine straw has less wax coating than other pine straw.  This enables our dying process to bond much better.  Loblolly pine straw also covers in a more thick, uniform and close-laying manner.  It makes for a more lusterous and beautiful bed.

Because of the way Loblolly pine straw lays tightly together, you do not have to spread as much. Only about 2 inches deep instead of traditional recommendations of 3 inches deep. Also when you restraw in about 12 months you will not have to use as much.  Only about 1 inch. This saves a lot of money and looks much better. Hall's Designer Pine Straw will last about 12 months in the South.  Depending on the climate it can last longer.  The further north, the longer it lasts.

Our Processing

First we clean the fields thoroughly before we gather. Then using a round baler the straw is baled into about 5 foot rolls. The rolls are hauled to our warehouse to be processed. There we unroll the bales onto a cleaning conveyor to remove any remaining debris and residue. After the straw is cleaned it enters our coating process.  After much research we have found a unique process that enables the dye to bond to the straw.  This process is better than any other available. It is a very time consuming procedure, but the end result is well worth it.

In the process of coating the straw, the straw is actually washed to remove impurities and residue.  This is done before our solutions are added to the straw. Therefore, helps the dye last longer and protects the straw. The process of course also makes our pine straw cleaner out of the box than ANY other straw you will buy. During our process of applying our patented solution/dye, we do NOT capture our solution for return and reuse. Once used on the pine straw our solution is disposed. This way you are assured that your Hall's Designer Pine Straw has been treated with only the best solution available. Further our solution is bio friendly and bio degradable.
